  1. from what I observed last year, quite a few competitors had repainted or powder coated their roll bars and cages, and in the process FIA stickers appeared to have been lost. I thought this unusual until I encountered the very lax level of scrutineering  at the events that I attended, I'm not sure that that was encouraging or worrying, but was no where near the standards encountered at MSA Race Meetings. Regarding the 50mm rule, I agree that for as long as I can remember this has been mandatory, wasn't it one of the reasons for Caterham introducing a lowered Floor option?

  2. The type with a crossbar.

Used, and powder coating not mint condition, but complete with Head rest Pad, and never tested....lol

Photo' can be e mailed if required.

Looking for £190, but happy to consider offers.

It will need to be collected from Milton Keynes area.

ps. can be seen fitted to Car in my avatar picture.

  3. Update

It was 3/8" that was needed, I found an old Allen Key, and as suggested cut a piece off it, and then found an old 3/8" AF impact socket, mated them together using some insulating tape and job's a good un!

Only mystery is why on earth I would have aquired a 3/8"  impact socket in the past, although fortunate, but having worked mostly on trucks in the past I can't imagine that I would have ever needed it.....lol

Thanks again for the imput from you all.....

  4. thanks for all of the input, I have now established that 8mm is too small, so it seems that it must be 3/8". I will try and find a key amongst my 50 year collection of A/F and Whitworth tools, all bundled together and spread across 3 Tool boxes

    again, thanks for the help.

  5. Hi Steve,

It's a common problem, you might consider doing as I do, and that is to lay a strip of gaffa tape over the weights before refitting the wheels, using this method the weights stay in place indefinitely.

  6. I have the blue plate off the boittom of my bellhousing, both to change the engine oil and also to rectify a small leak caused when one of the allen bollts got snagged on the back rail of my trailer.

I have noticed, not for the first time, that each of the bolt holes in the plate appear to have cutouts containing rubber seals, which  would if necessary require renewing, however, as each of the bolts goes into a blind hole, these seals don't appear to serve any useful purpose, and if anything could potentionally interfere, due to there thickness, with the successful sealing of the plate to bellhousing seal.

Has anybody else ever had thoughts on this.?

  7. Hi Mark,

Thanks for the offer and the chance to try before I invest heavily!

And Yes, I will be at Curborough, all being well with the Car after Goodwood!

You'll have to give me some direction towards your Red Wine preferences, how about a nice "chateauneuf-du-pape"?

  8. thanks for all of the suggestions, now have to decide.

Mickey, since I collected the Silencer from you , I think some time in 2004, it's never had any attention, admitedly the mileage doesn't reflect the Cars age as it was on SORN for about 5 years, but even so, it's probably best to do a full repack, also, theres one or two fixing screws missing, perhaps you could message me with some idea of cost.

    thanks again to everyone

  9. My car was originally supplied with a mesh grill and a seven logo grill, separate pieces. I would like to source another plain mesh grill, but it appears that Caterham stopped supplying them some time ago,  personally, I don't like the Seven logo as a grill.

  10. having not done the Speed Series since 2004, I'm a bit out of touch, but it appears that to get my R400 into Class 4, I will need to get a 190 BHP map for my MBE ECU, anybody tell me where to get one please?

I have Easimap, and a couple of maps already, road and race, but an MOT map could be useful as well..

  11. I think that the Rev limit you refer to in the stack unit, is the setting for the gear change lights, you can reset this to any figure you want, along with several other settings including the rolling radius of the tyre if you want your speedo to be accurate.

I think all of this was covered inthe owner manual.
