  1. I'm just removing a full set (passenger and driver side) but won't be fully out of the car until 22 August. Seat bolts have been damaged underneath so couldn't get them out myself. GP Sevens removing them on that date.A small amount of paint has been scratched on the red buckle but otherwise perfectly working. Can send pics if you are still after some....

  2. Colin, I bought a Supersport from CC Gatwick two years ago as a 'dealer approved' car. I raised the concern regarding the Titan diff (clunky/noisy) after almost a year of ownership and CC investigated at the annual service and agreed that the diff should be removed and inspected by Road Race Transmission (RRT). This obviously occurred just as the warranty was running out but CC accepted that as I had raised the concern before the end of the warranty, they accepted the full cost of whatever was needed. The following advice from RRT to CC was that a new diff was required and CC removed and replaced a new diff, albeit another Titan, supplied by RRT.

It's still clunky/noisy but have been told by Sevens & Classics as well as RRT, that it is operating as expected with no cause to do anything at all. Sounds bloody horrible at low speed and turning. However, as stated either in this thread (or some of the alternatives), I'm keeping a close eye on oil quality and colour as well as resigning myself that the diff will come out this winter for a full inspection by RRT. I agree - there is no way that any repair, service or replacement should be down to you - it's covered under the original warranty as long as you have raised it with CC IN WRITING before the warranty end date. However, note that any replacement diff will not be further covered by your original CC warranty. Note that mine is the standard Sigma and is purely a road car - no track days planned or desired. I'm waiting for someone on this forum to come up with a better alternative than simply driving it and hoping that it doesn't fail catastrophically somewhere. Or I have to bite the bullet at some point and pay for a better solution that doesn't carry that risk. Bloody disgraceful.

  3. I remember driving a hire car from Peace River to Alberta during a winter working session a few years back. As they (Hertz) had hired out everything with winter tyres, snow chains et al, they offered me an upgrade to an SUV with the mandatory Canadian rock chip in the front screen but only fitted with summer tyres.

I then drove for several hours watching the outside temp gauge gradually fall to -35. I had eyeballs on stalks for the entire trip but will never forget what a great experience it was.

  4. Are those the mirrors that attach to the windscreen frame? Just knocked one of mine off being too impatient to move the car before squeezing by with a mattress! Cracked the round ball joint bit but won't glue back into place. If you could send a pic through of what you have or a link etc - greatly appreciated.

  5. My father passed away several years ago but I still have my dads Thor in his old toolbox. He was a maintenance electrician at AEI in the early days. I still imagine him using it every time I pick it up. As you say, every bloke should have one.

  6. Yes, you can sit next to 6 people in a pub garden but not stand next to them, with a 2m gap, in the wide open space of a race track. Doh. Tough for organisers I guess so let's stick with the rules and get back to normal at some point. Like the October GRRC Members meeting....

  7. That's her problem, not yours - albeit you might get on perfectly well before this. The absolute aim is to get it back to the original condition at no cost to yourself and the full knowledge that the repair is the very best you can get. It ain't going to be a few hundred quid and wonder if you should claim for a hired Caterham during the time that it is away.....

Best of luck with it. My first scratch (very minor) on my new Cat brought me to tears.
