Has anybody got a PDF of the build manual for a Caterham Suzuki 160?
Thanks

Sorry, I seem to have steered this "chat" off piste a little!
As for buying a Caterham, you have already crossed the biggest hurdle...Getting the wife to OK it!! Well done. That was a lot of brownie points used up!
Like the rest of us (even with some moaning!) you will love it whatever you get. There's probably not one Seven out there that isn't great fun to drive.
So keep looking and good luck with your search.

Oops i meant Phill. (At R&R).

Hi yes genuine pair selected by Paul.

I had mine fully rebuilt last year by Phil at R&R with "new" CW&P and its still painfully noisy.
So even after a rebuild by the best in the business its still horrible!

Hi. I'm not sure why you don't want a crossflow. I would prefer a crossflow to my K series. They are so simple to look after.
I would actually prefer a live axle as well. A lot of deDions really hurt your ears!!
Good luck with your search.

Brilliant.
Thanks I will take a look

I'm looking for an upper steering column with Lifeline (standard Caterham) quick release splines.
Anybody??
Thanks "BlueC7" your youtube advert sorted me out.

I used self amalgamating tape to cover the exposed terminals. Works well and can be cut off if necessary

Hi all
Problem solved now.
Adjusted diff bearing carriers in situ and added RED LINE HEAVY ShockProof Gear Oil.
Result is amazing and diff is almost silent now.

Do you know what type of tool they used to make the adjustment?

Hi. Yes I agree but I was thinking many teeth in a semicircle.
I dont know how to insert an image otherwise I would show you a drawing.
Cheers

Hi.
Well I certainly don't mind the fiddling.
That's all good info. Can you give me some more detail.
Actually I have been looking for a spare castellated bearing carrier as a template so I can make a "C" type spanner.
Then I can make adjustments in situ. I know that sounds wrong but from what you say, the odd notch (or 6) could be tried. I cant make it any worse!
When you say " realigned the top mounting holes in the diff" I assume you mean drill/ream them out. Is that right? and did you do that in situ?
Also I assume you screwed in the LHS (nearside ) bearing carrier.i.e. the crownwheel side.
Thanks

I think the CC ones will be the same as mine i.e. copy parts and badly set-up! But thanks for the info

Wow. I didn't expect that!
I seem to have re-opened an old can of worms!
Maybe this shouldn't be in the "wanted" section! But it's great to talk and get some new ideas in this old problem.
For competition use its not a problem but on long road trips it gets VERY tiring.
I assume that my diff internals are almost certainly not original Ford parts and that may well make it impossible to silence.
I will talk to Road and Race again and see how confidant they are about losing the worst of the noises.
From what I understand, the best way to cure this is to fit a genuine old sierra unit. Hard to find these days though.

Hi.
Yes I know but can they be certain that it will be quiet? I don't think so!
Mine has only done 4K miles and has been noisy from new so I think its CW & P change needed. ( for an older set maybe).
So I'm really looking for a "real" sierra diff, not a CC copied parts one.
But thanks for your interest.
Cheers

Seriously, has anybody got a non LSD Sierra diff 3.38 for sale which is known to be quiet!
I'm getting fed up with the chatter and whine. (from the diff!)

Hi. Thanks I'll have a look for it.
