There does appear to be enough clearance, from the diagonal, as that did cross my mind.

Folks. I completed an oil change today on my R400 Duratec.
The oil filter that came off was a Mann. Short filter in size.
When i purchased a new filter, I was recommended this filter from Opie Oils. They stated this is what the most folk with 2.0 Duratec where using.
Only issue with it, its double the size. I have done some searching, and there is mixed opinion about it. It fits fine on my car, but just a bit concerned as to why Caterham using a filter half the size.

Hi Nick.
It don't look too difficult to be fair. I was just wondering if folk still bench bleed them, before fitting them, or is it a case of just straight on and bleed the system.
Keep me posted mate if you don't mind, as I am not doing the job until a week on Saturday.

Thanks Tom. I never looked long enough it seems lol.

Folks,
Just prepping for the work I am close to starting on my R400 Duratec 2013 SV.
I am swapping out the standard master cylinder, for the AP.
Can anyone confirm if this is a straight swap over. Any tips also, on any snags I may come up against.
Paul.

Is this the correct box oil, and am I correct in saying it takes 1.9litre?
And Diff, x 2 litre

Yep, agreed, for the road, its a quick car right enough. I am booked onto a trackday in a few weeks, this will be my first in the Cat, so looking forward to seeing what it can do.
My speedo twitchy too lol. That's on the list of to do's in 10 days time. Yes, i have the carbon dash and push buttons. The car could not really get anymore basic in that respect, but it's part and parcel, and when you drive it, it's certainly an event that brings a smile lol.
I have no idea what diff i have lol.

Where is the fuel filter located on the R400 Dura? Is it in the tank?
Good result on the remap. I am thinking of going down the same route. My R400 same set up as your car has been having issue since I got it. Its pulling really well, and defo does not run out of puff, but its the low speed running of mine that is frustrating, which will drive me eventually a trip down south.

Cheers lads
Scott, good info, and thanks. I was thinking with the mileage they should be fine, but not sure how hard a life the car has had in that 6k, so I was going to air on the side of caution and change the fluids. I have a sealey pump with long hose for doing boxes, so all good there, and have a mini suction pump. Whats the best way to get to the diff hole?
Scott, is your car the Duratec also. How do you find the gear change from cold with those fluids? Mine currently is a bit notchy when cold, but soon as the heat has arrived, its like butter.

Guys,
I am going to be doing a full service on my R400 Duratec, RBTBs in a couple of weeks time, as well as change the Master Cylinder.
My car has only done 6k, its a 2013. Would you recommend changing the gear and diff oil. It is dry sump, but I reckon I am clear on changing the oil in that. Just not explored the diff and box yet. Is there a quick guide on how to check the oil in the diff, or does it not require checking?
Cheers
Paul

Thanks guys.
I am OCD with files anyway, so any future owner of my car will be more than happy with the history. Made my mind up now I am doing the car myself. Just need to get researching how much of the fluids I need. Got a Master Cylinder to change on the car anyway, so will just get the full service done.
Front bearings have been regreased already when I put new discs on.

Guys
Looking for some words of wisdom here. My Duratec R400 with the Roller barrels, is due its service soon.
The car is a 2013, dry sump. Till now it has a full Caterham factory service history. Now I have all my own equipment and have serviced the biggest % of my cars over the years. Nothing really phases me on looking after the Caterham.
But would you keep up a dealer history on the car, or cherish it and pamper it yourself. It will get the best of everything doing it by myself, but I just wished to hear if others have chosen a similar route.
If I do go ahead, can someone direct me to the volumes for diff and gearbox oil.
I have a garage in mind, who is more of a Loti specialist, but they know there way around these cars, and I full trust them, but is a dealer stamp worth anymore to a car like this.

Did you try that bearing you linked from Ebay. Been a few years, but worth a bash.
