  1. Hi Comp Sec,

regarding Class 5/6 - would it be possible to consider the amendment of Class 5 regulations to exclude the requirement for an operational reverse gear? If there is a potential advantage (e.g. weight) in not having a reverse gear then this is somewhat negated by there being no power limit on cars in Class 5. I am not aware if there are any other reasons to insist on an operational reverse gear - are there?

This would then allow the use of motorbike engined cars (without reverse gear) in Class 5 rather than these cars being restricted to Class 6 (where you expect minimal entries). I appreciate that there is always the option to move up to Slick (unrestricted) tyres and run in Class 7 but this is not attractive for occasional event entries.

    Cheers, Roy Allum

  2. Hi Andrew, just checking that you received the PM that I sent as below?

Hi Andrew, can you suggest what day(s) you may want to collect please, and then I can tell you what time is OK on that day(s)? If you want to collect early on your way to work then that will be fine on any day.

    Cheers, Roy

  3. Hi Malcolm, yes I am attending on 9th Nov, and yes I can take item home. I live 15 minutes drive from Loughborough in Bradmore which is on the A60 on the way from the A46 (from Newark) to Loughborough.

However based on Andrew's message, just tell him that Oxford is almost in the Midlands and he could collect from the Awards lunch himself?

    Cheers, Roy

  4. Yes, well done Chris - many thanks for all your hard work, organisation (including great group meals), and excellent communication throughout the whole year.

    Cheers, Roy

  5. I am 'breaking' a factory built December 2018 125bhp Sigma Academy car with 1800 miles covered from new (no races) to use as base car for a 'project' build. I am selling the entire drivetrain and several other parts that are not needed, I am going to price everything at 60% of Caterham Parts' list price which seems fair as all parts are like 'new'.

1.6 125bhp Sigma engine (still factory sealed so fine as spare for Academy race series cars)

    ECU and engine wiring harness

Full exhaust system (Black and polished bits - see photo below)

    Race transponder (wired power)

    5 speed Mazda gearbox

Prop shaft and BMW open diff'

Driveshafts and rear hubs and rear De-dion ears

Black Apollo wheels with Academy tyres fitted

    Radiator and cooling system hoses

Front brakes (2 pot AP radial mounts)

    Rear brakes and handbrake lever.

    Black surround windscreen.

Full doors and roof (called weather equipment I think) and Black mirrors on doors

Wipers & wiper motor (if there is one?).

Standard Academy dashboard with all dials and switches.

Soft centre tunnel cover and Softbits handbrake cover.

    S3 Nosecone and grille.

    Front cycle wings and stays.

    Standard wishbones (upper & lower).

Academy 'Road & Race' specification dampers and springs.

VBox HD 2 camera system with interface to sensors.

    Other parts to follow (probably).

The car is stored in Nottingham (M1 J25) and is still running so engine can be demonstrated. It will be preferred if large parts can be collected from Nottingham, however if anybody requires a significant amount of the drivetrain, then the car can be delivered to you for 'self removal'  if applicable.

Please let me know if you have interest in any (or ideally all!) of these parts?

    Cheers, Roy

  6. Hi Andy, I still have 2 sets that I don't need - I advertised them on MARKETPLACE BlatChat in November. The ad' will come up if you search ALLUMY. If you want to see the wheels/tyres they are near Nottingham (M1 J25 or J26). I can bring them to any Lotus7 Sprint or Track Day that I am attending if you ever attend these? Feel free to suggest a price if you are interested, either before or after viewing them.

    Cheers, Roy

  7. For sale:

Silver Apollo wheels 2 X 13 X 6 inch (Front) and 2 X 13 X 8 inch (Rear) fitted with Avon ZZR tyres. Used exclusively on my R300 SV track car. Wheels purchased new in June 2017 and new tyres fitted in October 2017 but still working well on track in August 2018. Selling these as now using wider wheels on the car. Wheels stored in Nottingham where they may be viewed or collected - I will be at the Lotus7 Club Speed Championship lunch at Donington park on Saturday 10th November so I could offer viewing or hand over the wheels there.

    Price £400

I have added these photos of the other 3 wheels since I have been asked about wheel condition. To be clear, these wheels have been used only on a track car but they have been 'near' gravel traps on occasions hence there are some marks on the rims of 2 of the wheels as shown in the photos below. Also I have been asked about the tread depth on the ZZR tyres so it is worth mentioning that I expected to get a further 5-10 track days on these tyres if I hadn't changed to wider wheels. However I wouldn't recommend the ZZRs for normal road use as they are designed to work well when warm and dry hence are quite interesting on wet surfaces.

I have another set of these wheels fitted with quite new ZZS tyres which I will be photographing and selling - when I got these wheels in 2017 I had them powder coated Blue and they do look good when powder coated (although I accept that most people don't much like the Blue!), so these Silver wheels could be painted by a new owner in any finish and would look like new.
