  2. I'm selling a set of 6 inch 8 spokes. 13" diameter Ford PCD.

They have an old (2014) set of CR500s on with around 2.5mm tread.

I bought them used 3 years ago with the intention of fitting wets for a spare track day set, but never got round to it.

Ex Academy so have rubber marks, a few scuffs and bruises, but now cluttering my garage now my Caterham has been sold.

Collection from Lancs/Cheshire (work/home) or alternatively would probably cost around £40 to send to a UK addrress.

    £195 ono.

  4. So do competitors need to pay for sleeping in our camper vans?

It says price per pitch but I don't need an extra pitch because my van and trailer will be there all night, whether I'm sleeping in it or not.

  5. To those in the know....

I've never been here before and and I think I have now completed the somewhat convoluted entry procedure for the event however I still have a few queries (dumb questions) left.

    1. Can I arrive on Friday and stay overnight? And at what time? There is no mention of circuit opening hours in the final instructions.

    2. Do I have to organise and pay to camp in my van? It says camping can be booked and paid on the website but I can't find it anywhere.

    3. Once in the paddock, do I leave my trailer hitched or do I have to park it separately like at Goodwood?

    4. Would I use the main entrance on Friday evening, or will the competitors entrance be open??

    Thanks

    Andy

  6. Hi Richard

Glad you got to the bottom of it.

I did try to run the existing drop link as long as it could go. (too long really, with only a few threads left) and it would still kiss the CV joint over some curbs. A modified, longer drop link may do the job though, if that's what Turn 7 are suggesting.

FWIW, suprisingly I found that running one hole off full soft was hardly noticeable for me. It is after all, a really weedy ARB. On this setting I also found it preferable to run my rear tyre pressures a couple of PSI lower. Just an opinion. Works for me.

    Regards

  7. Just to reiterate, the purpose of my diff plug pic was to show how hard that oil has worked, not to have a pop at Titan LSDs. Bearing in mind the oil going in is bright blue (Motul) and it comes out black and thick. It took almost 20 minutes to empty 1 litre by a vacuum pump due to the consistency.

The residue on the magnet was more silicone sealant than grease like in consistency and there was less swarf type substance than I found on the gearbox plug.

I would imagine if my mileage had been purely road use, then it would probably look worse. A plate diff with such high pre-load together with shallow ramp angles is never going to last that long with light use so maybe it's not the best option for a road car. Once I retire the car from sprinting I will definitely be looking at something from Quaife or Wavetrac as a fit and forget component for road use.

I work with Porsches and the race cars get regular diff rebuilds as a matter of course, often with plenty life left in them. But the show queen 30000 miler, GT3 RS with a cars and coffee, lunch at Goodwood type usage will have diffs that are shot to pieces. It's not what they were really intended for.

But for now I am mightily impressed with the Titan's performance and I accept that at some point it will need a rebuild. Preload has only reduced slightly, it's noisy but it always has been but it is very efficient and predictable on track. IMHO It's all about expectation and being sold the correct tool for the job.

  8. Of course it's inevitable. It's doing its job. I was just trying to illustrate how much crap you can pull out after a short time.

it's a Titan. It's done 1800 miles from new and that's the 3rd diff oil change.

I would imagine if I had the luxury of a drain plug at the base of the diff casing, there would me more of it to remove.

  9. I'm about to put my early model '73 V8 up for sale if anyone is interested. A lovely car which has had fortunes spent. Currently showing 44000 miles with history going back to the 80s. I'm thinking it's probably worth 19500 maybe.

If anyone is interested, I can give much more detail.

  10. My 420 with the Mazda 5 speed certainly has a drain plug as normal.

Also, you cant really go wrong when filling it, as there is an access hole with a grommet in the offside of the transmission tunnel and when you remove that, the fill plug is right behind it.

  11. Mine leaked from new. I tried the sweat band thing but after a track day it still managed to leak past and strip the paint off my side skin.

I did mention the problem but was told it was the first time they had heard of it.

Just get a race cap and cable tie the level sensor out of the way.

  12. Another thank you to Graham, Paul, Alan and everyone else who helped to make this season happen.

Can't wait for 2022 to do it all again.

Once I have patched my car up following this weekend's excursions, I will probably hibernate until March.
