  1. John, it is a dry sumped VVC, it was not when I got it brand new, but after blowing the engine after 2000 miles due to oil surge I opted for a dry sump after the rebuild!  So yes they can definitely be dry sumped *smile*

Stuart, no 6l was what it took to get to the level advised by running the engine then dipping it immediately after turning it off, it is a right pain to dip the dry sump.

  2. I am puzzled, after I had my VVC engine rebuilt I had to put 6 litres of mineral oil in to get it to the right mark on the dry sump dip stick, I have done 1000 miles running it in and I have just drained the oil out by taking the bottom plate off the conning tower, the bottom pipe off the gold pump, the sump plug out the bottom of the dry sump and the oil filter off, turned the engine over by hand but have only got 4.4 litres of oil out, where is the other 1.6 litres hiding? Please help with my stupidity. Thanks

  3. Hopefully this will put the question of whether you need a relay or not to bed. After ordering the PIAA horns yesterday, I wanted to know if I needed to bother with the relay, having read DJ's post I messaged him asking the question, his reply and link below should give you all the answer. Thanks DJ

As you asked, I thought I'd better check, and I've found an old thread where a chap connected his horns to a spare battery with an ammeter and he found about 5amps for both horns : http://www.fjrforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114732

  4. What harnesses are people using? I want to find a new pair of 4 point ones that are easier to adjust than the Caterham ones I currently have. Thanks
