Hi Stuart,
That is exactly how I am measuring as my dry sump is the older style without a built in dip stick. What a pain lol.
-
John, it is a dry sumped VVC, it was not when I got it brand new, but after blowing the engine after 2000 miles due to oil surge I opted for a dry sump after the rebuild! So yes they can definitely be dry sumped
Stuart, no 6l was what it took to get to the level advised by running the engine then dipping it immediately after turning it off, it is a right pain to dip the dry sump.

Why did you have to start another thread to confuse things John
-
No mine was the PIAA horns, but you are right, they are very loud
-
I am puzzled, after I had my VVC engine rebuilt I had to put 6 litres of mineral oil in to get it to the right mark on the dry sump dip stick, I have done 1000 miles running it in and I have just drained the oil out by taking the bottom plate off the conning tower, the bottom pipe off the gold pump, the sump plug out the bottom of the dry sump and the oil filter off, turned the engine over by hand but have only got 4.4 litres of oil out, where is the other 1.6 litres hiding? Please help with my stupidity. Thanks

Hopefully this will put the question of whether you need a relay or not to bed. After ordering the PIAA horns yesterday, I wanted to know if I needed to bother with the relay, having read DJ's post I messaged him asking the question, his reply and link below should give you all the answer. Thanks DJ
As you asked, I thought I'd better check, and I've found an old thread where a chap connected his horns to a spare battery with an ammeter and he found about 5amps for both horns : http://www.fjrforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114732

Car Builder Solutions do them.
-
Very little from what I have heard!
-
Yes please. If we can get it by GONADS to Kent that would be great, I will get it rebuilt as a spare.
Thanks
Alan

Thanks Alan

You missed the point Mr Reeves, has it only started after the nasty rain we encountered last week?
-
Ian, I think it was Martin that should have had SOS on his car, at least mine is all self inflicted lol
-
Hi Martin,
Oh yes and I didn't even recognise you, sorry mate.
-
Doug Tulloch has one mounted on the dash, drop him a message and ask him how, have to wait a few days as he is still in Belgium.

His car is dry shampooed only and has never ever been out in the rain, honestly my lord.
-
That was where we were going :)

As above, spotted broken down between junction 27 and 28 9.30 Sunday night with the RAC in attendance, I hope it was not to serious.
-
I got one from Redline last week.
