  1. Buyer from my Caterham didn’t want the aeroscreen so it’s up for sale. Interchangeable Caterham supplied aeroscreen to fit S3 chassis with all mirrors and brackets/washers for quick change. Has seen very little use and is in very good condition. £270 collection only from Barrow Upon Trent, Derby.

  2. **SOLD**

With a heavy heart I have decided to part with my 2003 Caterham R300 SUPERLIGHT (Road car from new).

    • 1.8 Rover K-Series with the desirable Roller Barrel Throttle Bodies (160bhp)
    • Reflex Blue with black pack.
    • Full history from Caterham or Specialist (mainly NJ Potter who myself and previous owner have used throughout ownership) with detailed folder of servicing receipts and parts purchased along with spares that have been kept over the years.
    • Last serviced on 15th April 2019 along with inspection which is detailed in the original Caterham service book.
    • 12 months MOT
    • 30300 miles
    • Two keys/fobs
    • 6 previous owners.

I purchased the car in February 2016 off a fellow Lotus 7 club member. Many of the previous owners have been Lotus Seven Club Members and the car has been featured in Low Flying as a member’s profile article twice.

The car carries all the original Superlight parts (6 speed close ratio gearbox, four pot front calipers, wide track, Superlight adjustable platform suspension, 6” front, 8” rear Superlight wheels, carbon dash with ACES shift lights, push button start, carbon front wings, QR wheel (recently re-trimmed in charcoal alcantara with a yellow stitch), QR harnesses. The car also has the addition of carbon nose cone & rear arches along with leather touring seats, full weather equipment with heater, yellow Caterham gauges, lowered drivers floor, FIA roll bar, LSD, and a 12v socket which is also hard wired for a battery conditioner. The car also has Vernier cam pulleys fitted to aid timing, custom Goodfabs exhaust with FIA race CAT, and an SPA oil and water temperature gauge. The front dampers have also been rebuilt over winter by Bilstein due to a weeping seal.

For those that read the New Member profile article in May 2016’s Low Flying, you will see that this was a life long purchase and as such the car has been looked after both mechanically and cosmetically which hopefully the pictures show.

There is the option to purchase the aero screen and SPA mirrors separately.

Please call after 7pm during the week and no texts please. Happy to respond/send additional photos/details via email. I would much prefer it to stay within the club so I will advertise on here first before looking at other websites in a couple of weeks. Genuine reason for sale.

  3. Hi Piers, good to hear from you. The car only came out of hibernation two weeks ago for its MOT. I'm ashamed to say that was the first since last October. I borrowed a synchrometer from John to balance the throttle bodies but all seemed OK to be honest. There is a slight difference between the two rollers but I believe this is manufacturing tolerances. Had to replace the pos to starter solenoid lead as this had burned to a crisp having got too close to one of the exhaust primaries. Nick at NJ Potter mentioned it runs well with nothing out of the ordinary, so I'm going to enjoy it this summer. I've got a few runs planned in my local playground of the Peak District this summer, fingers crossed for good weather.

Hope all is well with your R300.

  4. Great, all done. Thanks for your replies, easy when you know how.

I must admit, how cool does the Caterham look with the aero screen?! Just a few last bits to sort to tidy up the appearance, like wiper motor spindle grommets then fit the side mirrors.

  5. I know I shouldn't basking what will no doubt will be a simple answer but, im having trouble removing the wiper arms off the spindle. Im in the process or swapping the windscreen for aero, that bit has gone very easy, but the wipers are putting up a fight? The search result mentions a clip retainer which I don't seem to have. Am I Just being too gentle with pulling them off?  It is a 2003 car.

    Thanks

  6. Providing you are using a good quality oil and your engine is in good health, you shouldn't need to change the oil and filter after one track day covering 70 miles. 95 degrees is quite a cool operating temp for track driving. It won't do it any harm obviously, but really isn't necessary in my opinion.

  7. That's great, thanks Jonathan.

Yes all other gauges are fine. Yes it has the traditional round gauge with needle and electronic mileage reading.

could you explain what that second picture actually is? Can I do any of it any harm trying to tighten it up or cleaning the contacts of the connectors you see in the photos? I'm assuming the digital mileage reading is stored in the speedo?

    Sorry for the basic questions.

    Lee

  8. Hi,

Definitely nothing on the rear wheel hub. Gearbox however shows this...

http://s3.photobucket.com/user/c0151198/media/IMG_9030.jpgIt has the Caterham 6 speed box. Im unsure what that is in the last photo but there is a bit of movement/play. Is this normal?

    Thanks,

    Lee

  9. Hi Jonathan,

I was hoping the answer to that question would be a year cut off/switch over point? I'm embarrassed to say, I'm not 100% sure. I will check in the morning. Gauges wise, it has the factory yellow Caterham analogue setup.

  10. Evening, All

    Hopefully a simple one...

When I start the car the speedo bounces and then hesitates, often sticking at around 60mph for a few seconds whilst I'm sat on the drive. Once I pull off all seems normal.

I've tried using the search but I'm hoping someone can point me in a more specific direction. I've heard an "Earth mod" mentioned a few times?

    It's a 2003 R300.

    Thanks,

    Lee

  11. New banner battery fitted and took the opportunity to clean the earths and cables onto the terminals. A much happier k series R300 when cranked over.

Another thumbs up for Tayna batteries. They also gave 10% discount when I signed up to their newsletter. Happy days.

  12. A bit of garage time today so taken the banner battery off. It is scribed with 11/03 on the top. The cells look completely dry inside. There is a receipt for a new battery in 2007 but that isn't to say that it could obviously be newer. I have given all the connectors a good clean as they looked like they hadn't been off for a while and seemed corroded.

Is there a club discount for Tayna by any chance? I will get one ordered tomorrow.

    Thanks

    Lee
