That was a very interesting read. As you know I have had my car from new  since December 2000. I assembled it from kit form. I have always changed the oil on a regular basis, and did consider changing the foam last year. But the £50+ from Caterham put me off (delayed me). So will be considering it as a job for this winter. 

However, the car has just gone over 12,000 miles, and hasn’t been driven since the MoT last October! So in reality it might be done next year now. 

Are you enjoying the 1600 8v?  It is just right for me.

Managed to find it, but will not be able to scan it until next week at the earliest.   

I have an assembly guide for when I purchased my kit in late 2000. I still have the car, and I still have the AG. Although I know where the car is, it may take a while to find the AG.  From memory I thought it was specific for the 1600 Vx Classic, but it may have been bastardised from a previous Live Axle model.

Thank you for your responses, the reason for the question is that I am trying to collect spares for my own car. There is a complete engine on Ebay and the seller is advertising it from an ex-academy car that has 100bhp at the wheels and 135bhp at the flywheel. This seemed strange to me. At £350 (or best offer) might be worth a punt.

Out of curiosity, could someone tell me what the specification of a 1.6 8v Vauxhall engine for the Academy series. is.

My own car has a standard set up, 101 Bhp at the crank and around 70ish at the wheels.

Are the Academy cars supposed to be standard?
