and for anybody already in the USA group, you might like to click 'follow' so you get notified of forum content (you can set it to daily or weekly digest to avoid too much mail).

Hello all,
USA Area/forum on the Caterham Lotus Seven Club Website
We have a USA mailing list on our membership database and I have transferred the names on it to follow the USA area on our new website. This might be why you have just received a notification about this forum post.
The USA mailing list was rarely, if ever, used but hopefully you might like to receive occasional updates from other USA Club members. If this is not for you, then simply find and press the 'unfollow' button to unsubscribe. I hope that this is OK.
best wishes
Simon

Good luck to everyone! Wish I could join you 😕

beautifully made content, and that work on Blender must have taken ages.

Sorry to hear that Roger. I have enjoyed chatting with you in the paddock when our paths have crossed. You are really fortunate to have kept going with it to such an age 😁.

Thanks for doing this useful guide...
I have converted it to a technical guide and added it here...We are working to update the technical guides section. It needs an update and refresh.
More contributions are very welcome

Yes, that new 'database' version was taken from the old version, but with ex members removed.
The technical guides section is due a revamp, so the old list is something that could be removed 👍

I should add, it is in the 'home' section of the menu.

By the way, there is a new and updated version of the loan directory
https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/home_folder/home_loans/
Any member can offer equipment (and remove the offer if no longer available)

Very good - I appreciate that some of that Blender work is tricky!

Thanks for the interesting update on progress in the Zoom meeting yesterday, John.
A 'rabbit hole' issue of national HVDC transmission cropped up (after you showed us the DC to DC converter).
I looked this on the web - I'd not come across it before.
AC national transmission does indeed have some disadvantages…
- Skin effect (not so with DC)
- Capacitive and Inductive losses over long distances.
- Requires synchronization across connections.
The first two were mentioned.
I learnt something new…

There is a threaded stud that comes us from the chassis rail. You just bolt the new retaining channel to this (using washers to get the right height).
You'll find an existing retaining channel in there which can be taken out (or I just inverted it and put the new one on top).

Yes - the nuts are welded to the retaining channels. The knee trim can stay in place, so it saves a lot of hassle. Worth getting.
when fitting them, you insert washers underneath to get them to the right height so that the holes align.
One thing to check - make sure there is enough space for the channels to fit. My first seven was no problem. On my 2018 academy Seven the left hand side has something in the way. I bought the car 2nd hand - so it might be my car is different than others.

Are you trying to protect the battery/ecu from water/heat damage, or is there another reason?
-
Hmm.. Interesting. How do they make the vehicle safe after a crash - some kind or Earthing mesh over the battery bay?
-
And the latest from the Guardian: Do electric cars really produce fewer carbon emissions than petrol or diesel vehicles?
link here
aside… I'm probably wrong, but shouldn't it be 'less' not 'fewer'?

Here is some more…
A series of myth busting arguments from the Guardian
It addresses fires, mining, cost and range.
