johnpbransfield
NEW BUILD, bled brakes for the first time yesterday ,but both sides are weeping (as well as me) at the 3 way connector. It may be that I have not cut the plastic pipe square so the olive is not seated correctly. If this is the case I was hoping to carry out the repair whilst in situ. A. do you think this is possible as Dave K at DT says to strip it all down and refit it on the bench, which seems a bit of a bugger. B. If I have to fit the CC version that comes ready assembled can i hacksaw underneath the P clip and tap the end of the rivet into the de.dion tube on the existing and then just replace, without taking the de dion out of the car. your answers as always are much appreciated. Myles
Do it properly - I'm having some teething problems with my brake upgrade (mainly bleeding issues, I'd guess - but some minor worries about leaks from various connectors). FWIW, I'd just order the pre-made ones from CC - I did a few weeks ago - cost about £30 delivered for the two hoses. You might lose £15 of brake fluid - and another £30 for the hoses, but the hassles of spongey brakes - and the worry - aren't worth it. I'd have thought that you should be able to get away with doing it in situ. Just make sure you support the *chassis* on axle-stands (rather than the de dion - so that it hangs down). You might need to chisel it away from the de-dion and sort the mess out afterwards - I must confess I've not looked that closely at how the T is mounted. Project Scope-Creep is live...
