phatcat
I can't seem to find any nose cone fitting instructions in the assembly guide. Looked through 3 times now. Is it just so easy that they don't tell you, or can someone point me to the correct section How does it secure to the car? Am I supposed to have a fastener pack? How many fixing points are there (new Academy car)? Do I need to dremel anything to allow for suspenson movement / fitting? Thanks.
Frying Pan
CC changed the nosecone design (and supplier) in late 2003. Main difference is that it now covers the front bolts of the lower wishbones. The big bonus is that no Dremeling is required. I got one of the new ones, which had four mounting points: Two either side at the back which are hidden by the bonnet. These grip onto brackets on the chassis. Two at the rear of the front lower edge (where it curves under the car). Again, the brackets are on the chassis. I had to adjust the lower two brackets slightly so that they mated up with the fasteners on the nose. To be honest, the two top ones hold it tight, so these are a bit of overkill IMHO. All the fixings were pre attached to the nose cone. HTH Guy Edited for spelling... See some pictures of the build here. 4000 miles completed! phatcat
Wow, that was easy. However, the nose cone has horrible circular marks all over it, presumably from the bubble wrap, and they won't come off. I'll have to have words with Caterham at the PBC about that one... phatcat
Yep, but it's the principle. The paint really does look terrible. I shouldn't need a respray before the season even starts!
MikeRowland
Phatcat - you'll need a respray after 😬 Are you an academy man? It's all about the motorsport....
