FIA roll bar is required, but you don't need a full cage.

You need a breather arrangement in the petrol tank, which isn't a standard fitment (I don't think it is). Best talk to one of the Caterham specialists about which one - I think it might be off a Ducati motorbike.

Everything else is as per normal MSA blue book regulations. If you don't know what these are, you probably need to read your blue book. If you haven't got a blue book, then get a race licence and then read it. From memory:

Extra throttle return spring.

Yellow tape wrapped round the battery earth lead.

At least a four-point harness (six point recommended).

Towing eyes painted in a bright colour (don't know if they enforce this).

Novice cross on the back if you are a novice (I'm pretty sure they don't check this).

Oil catch tank for engine breather.

Battery master cut off switch.

Fire extinguisher - hand held is sufficient. Must be of approved type.

Unless car is driven to circuit, steering lock should be removed - I don't think they check this.

Make sure that all holes from engine bay into cockpit are sealed. Easy with a new car with a pedal box, harder with an old car without a pedal box.

I replaced my original wooden boot floor with an ali honeycomb one. I can't remember if this was a regulation or just someone's recommendation.

Need some kind of head restraint to stop whiplash and hitting your head on the roll bar. Caterham do a head restraint for the FIA bar.

Rear fog light(s)

Then of course there are the eligibility requirements, which go on for several pages.

I can fax you a copy of the regulations if you want (though not till tuesday).

Hi Anthony

I am thinking about class B, I have a 1700 xflow at present which I may upgrade to an 1800 Zetec which would still be in the same class. I think class A would be a bit rich for me, I am looking forward to the experience of racing and not necessarily an all out no-expense spared assault.

I hope to be at Cadwell this weekend to meet up with some of the competitors in the paddock, if you or anyone else is competing let me know.

Hi Ashley

I have a copy of the regs from the 750 MC so don't worry about bringing a copy, but I would be interested in finding out more about eligibility/scrutineering issues and looking at some of the basic tweeks that everyone does. See you on Sunday.

Regards

Simon
