craigyb
I have an R400 with RBTBs, and wondered how much popping from the exhaust is considered normal? Thoughts?
Nigel Riches
Some people on these forums have the ecu specifically tuned for this, so is yours set for this condition? Or is it a new phenomenon? in which case there could be something as simple as an air leak on the exhaust system causing it. Look for signs of exhaust gas blowing past a gasket, black smudgey mark indicating a failed seal. Personally, I prefer the quiet exhaust. MADMALC
Lots is the unhelpful answer. If you are using '4 star' try using '5 star'. My SLR was considerably less poppy on the better fuel.
craigyb
Mine is very 'poppy', which sounds great, just wondered what was normal - and that seems to be the case.I have a carbon airbox which reduces the popping compared to the big filter, for trackdays. Thanks
john aston
I got miserable apologies for pops on my R400D until I got the RBTB upgrade. Lots is normal- but you can reduce it (if you are worrying you are making an exhibition of yourself ) by not touching the accelerator at all when you lift off- if you only lift off 95% and foot is still covering pedal you get far more bangs and pops.
