luddites7
All I have a Quaiffe ATB Diff (Type 9 Gearbox dedion rear end - K series Engine) that I am going to install this weekend and have a couple of questions that I was hoping might get answered on here : 1/ What should the backlash CWP setting be - I know if its too much people have had too much knocking, just wondering what the recommended distance should be 2/ What is the recommended torque setting on the Pinion Nut (i.e. at flange end connecting to prop shaft) 3/ How much diff oil does it usually take. luddites7
If anyone knows the answer to any of the questions would be a real help. Thanks Jason
STEVE GILBERT
You don't need to undo the pinion nut to install a LSD unit into this Diff. I did a write up about this when I installed a TranX into my last car. Here http://www.blatchat.com/T.asp?id=22446 The diff I built is still working perfectly and silently 6 years and 15k later so I must have done it right 😬 Steve See My Caterham Fireblade Here. Neil Williams
Steve, Blatmail me and I'll send you a PDF copy of the Ford overhaul manual for the diff. All the figures you need are in the document. You may also find that you need to grind away a small section of the housing in order to get the ATB unit into place -I've got some pictures from when I fitted mine a few years ago, if you want I’ll look them out.
