Area Representative Sumo Posted April 1, 2008 Area Representative Share Posted April 1, 2008 I've just bought a new Banner battery which was supplied with a seperate container of battery acid. This had no instructions with it and was insufficent to cover the plates.  Do I now use battery top up water to cover the plates before initial charging 🤔  Advice gratefully received.  Edited by - sumo on 1 Apr 2008 19:47:
Tikey
Not sure about topping up with distilled water but when I had a battery dry supplied, I took it to a local motor factors who filled it with acid and said that after an hour at most it would be ready for use with no charging needed at all. By the time I got it home and put it back on the car, it was fine to start the car
Area Representative Sumo Posted April 1, 2008 Author Area Representative Share Posted April 1, 2008 Added a full litre of Shell Battery Water to battery to cover plates. Now fully charged and installed on car. Bought from a local motor factor at £65+VAT (£15+VAT less at Millwood & ready to install) but saved me 60+ miles of motoring to collect.
