Rapid Response
Has anyone used Super Charge Oil Treatment from Wynns ? (R300)... Whats your thoughts on this? Thanks
Peter Carmichael
What are you expecting it to do? I mix it 50/50 with Mobil 1 when assembling engines because it has the consistency of treacle and will stay where you put it. I'm not aware of it having any other viable use near a k-series. Sheds Moderator
Don't do it! AS PC says seriously gloopy stuff like this may be useful for assembly but that's all.
Normans_Ghost
Peter, I used to use a graphite grease which was in a squezzey tube to apply to pistons and bearing shell surfaces when assembling engines. Mind you that was 40 years ago. DohNut
OK seeing as you wont say what your aim is an no-one is leaping forward with first hand experience lets assume that you want to add it to the oil to make it "better" What is better 🤔 As Peter says the additive is very viscous so it will change the weight of the oil - what weight are you aiming for 🤔 will the "wrong" grade of oil plus the additive make a "better" oil then just buying the correct oil in the first place. 🤔 Are you hoping it will clean the engine through detergents 🤔 - how will that interact with the existing additives package in the oil 🤔 A quick search of the (many ) previous oil threads will reveal a big difference in opinion as to what is a good oil - and thats before you even start adding things to it ❗ Nick

Rapid Response
Thanks to you all for your comments. All I was thinking of was engine protection/running efficiency, It sounds like a big no. Appreciate that this is all new to me so had to ask the question. Rgds and thanks again. I.Mupferit
Wynns and STP and the like were great in my dad's 1500 Mk 1 Cortina back in the mid 60's as it masked, for a while, the effects of worn bores and knackered oil control rings thus it reduced his oil consumption and cut down on the plumes of blue smoke thrown out as he accelerated. But I wouldn't use it in a healthy modern engine when you have good quality synthetic oils available which have very good wear resisting additives already.
