Speedo Calibration

Belper Cat

Recommended Posts

I have a standard Caterham speedo (digital miles and needle speed reading) fitted to my 1.6 superlight, it has 15 inch wheels fitted and I dont think the speedo is calibrated, also resulting in a higher odometer reading for evry trip I do, anyone help on how to recalibrate?

thanks

DJ

Hi Dave I had this problem when I first got my car on the road, and the best blok to speak to is George Cambell at caterham, their are some little switches inside the back of the speedo that you have to set in a certain way that is on the earlier speedo, or if you have the very latest speedo if you hold down the trip button it will ask for a number to put in From a chart I have the number fo 14 inch wheel but thats all but have a word with George he will sort it out Regards Paul

Dave, there are instructions herefor calculating the calibration

and herefor a lookup table to apply the calibration to the speedo.

Looks comprehensive but you'll probably find (as I did) that there are two possible values for your gearing/ diff/ tyre diameter combo, one that over-reads and one that under-reads....
