Having ventured as far as the Alps in 2024 and Northern Spain/ Portugal in 2025, for 2026 the Club is offering a tour around one of the often overlooked regions of the United Kingdom. The Scottish Border country can often be by-passed by keen drivers heading to the famous Highlands.

The roads to the east and west of the M74 offer some wonderfully flowing driving roads, snaking their way through beautiful hilly countryside. I have been visiting this area regularly for almost 20 years and on reflection consider it to be my favourite, reasonably accessible motoring nirvana.

The club has secured 15 rooms at two hotels: the Peebles Hydro some 20 miles to the south of Edinburgh and the Priestland House in the famous seaside, golfing town of Troon. Both hotels are used to hosting car tours and offer safe parking.

The itinerary will take us north departing from the Cedar Court on June 28th through yet more great roads of North Yorkshire and the North Pennines and on to the Peebles Hydro. On Monday June 29th, there is a plan to visit the superb Jim Clark Museum in Duns for those that are interested. On June 30th, we will then take leisurely meander to the south and west, heading through the Lowther Hills and then turning north-west to Troon. July 1st will see us explore the open moors and forests of Dumfries and Galloway.

This opportunity is ideally (but not exclusively) suited to those who are attending the Tea Run, centred on the Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate, from 26th June 26 to 27th June. With the Saturday evening’s accommodation already included in the Tea Run package, the Borders Tour add-on pricing covers 4x nights, on a bed and breakfast basis at the hotels noted above. Separate arrangements for dinner will be discussed with each hotel based on the group preferences.

It is also recognised that some members from the south of the UK, may wish to break their journey south from Troon, by returning to the Cedar Court before continuing home. Accordingly rooms can also be booked directly with the hotel for those that wish to do so.

Members should note that the tour will be guided, with the Tours Lead providing daily support and route guidance for the duration of the event.

Rooms will be allocated on a first come, first served basis – so please be sure to book early.
