Caterham 21 Winter Upgrade

My First blog ever!

So I have decided to update the suspension of the car.

  1. Step one: New parts: I have the Powerflex bushes, and new Bilstein suspension bit

  2. Step two: creating a cradle for the car so I can wheel it in and out of the garage. I have ordered 4 wheels which have a load capacity of 300kg each.  I'm thinking of making the cradle out of wood or aluminum.

  3. Taking apart the suspensions

  4. have the wishbone, etc shot blasted and powder coated

  5. fit Powerflex bushes

  6. fit everything back on the car

  7. Take the car for a spin.

All that should be feasible over winter?

Jack,

I had Powerflex bushes fitted to my 21 and it's made the ride much more supple.  I didn't change the shocks or springs although I did move from 14 inch Yoko A048s to 15 inch T1Rs

Everyone who has been in the car says the ride is amazing - not just by sportscar standards but by reference to everyday cars.

This is despite running Freestyle green at the front and silver at the back, which is somewhat stiff.
