  • Goodwood sprint 2015

The club's first Speed Championship event of 2015 took place on Saturday at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. Competing here is always quite daunting, not just because of the history of the place but also the fact that it is a very fast circuit. The quicker Sevens reach speeds of over 130mph on the two straights and for most of the lap you never use any gear lower than fourth! Despite a wet night and early morning, the track was only a little damp for first practice but that didn't stop a few over exuberant competitors from spinning. It dried fairly quickly though and the rain held off for the three timed runs. We even had some decent amounts of sunshine which encouraged a few spectators.

The next event is this weekend at Hethel although, unfortunately, spectators aren't allowed. Sunday May 17th sees the club run its own event at Curborough sprint course near Lichfield and spectators are very welcome – better still it's free!
