banny Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 This is the first time I have used blachat so i hope someone can help. I have just entered a few club track days in my new SV. It currently has a roll bar on the car but i have read on the entry forms that you need to have a new FIA one fitted to enter these events. Please could someone advise me if this is correct and if so where could I buy and get one fit and how much. Thanks Andrew.
Andrew Dent Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Banny Buy one from Caterham. Come down here and fit it in an afternoon. Andrew Free the Barrowford 2
Grubbster Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I think they are about £260 from Caterham and reasonably easy to fit - although you need to remove the rear dampers so more time consuming than awkward. For L7 club trackdays you need one, but no other trackdays that I am aware of require them.
banny Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 😬 Thanks Andrew. Will hold you to that. Mouldy going to Caterham next week so will get him to bring one back.
Frying Pan Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Andrew Are you sure you don't already have an FIA bar? Caterham now also call this a 'trackday' bar. What does your current roll bar look like? The FIA bars have either a single diagonal or an 'X' brace, the non-FIA bars have just the 'hoop' and rear supports. Guy See some pictures of the build here. 8000 miles completed!
banny Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 Thanks. It has a loop then 2 supporting bars to the back of the car then a diagnol going accross the loop. Hope this makes sence. Is this FIA legal?
shn7 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Yep that sounds like the older style FIA bar. If it's like Angus' one in the first picture here then it's the FIA bar. Has the option (and needs this to be FIA compliant) to add the petty strut which links to the front of the passenger side sill though the thread here may be covered by the inner sideskin. Welcome to the fold btw. Steve.
Frying Pan Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Looks like you've just saved £260 See some pictures of the build here. 8000 miles completed!
Grubbster Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 And just for clarification - you do not need a petty strut for L7C track days.
banny Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 Thanks for all the information. Ive just saved myself another track day entry fee.
