Delberts Wallet Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I had the cat MOT'd the other week and he found that the top ball joint lock nut (the one that locks it to the wishbone) was loose. Upon further inspection the ball joint moves around in the wishbone, more that I would expect. I'm now wondering if I should change the wishbone as a matter of coarse, or do you think it will be alright. Gareth Blue and Carbon 6 Speed Supersport with new wheels
wag Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I had that problem a couple of years ago. The consensus on BC was that this is a vital joint. If it fails, your embarrassment will be endless. Of course, you only listen to the advice you want to hear. I dismantled the joint (count the number of turns to remove the BJ so you get it back in the same place), cleaned it of grease and put it back together with some of that JP epoxy metal stuff. Its been OK since. I reckoned there was enough length of thread in there for the thing to hold OK provided it was stopped from moving. These comments are without prejudice, so if you glue it up and fails at a crucial moment, tough.
Myles Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Are you on widetrack or narrow? I do have my old set of narrow bones lying around. That reminds me, btw - you've still got my starter spacer IIRC... Project Scope-Creep is live... Alcester Racing 7's Equipe - 🙆🏻™ Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com
