Starter motor problems

[French Flame Thrower]

A friend has now gone through 3 starters within a year, each packing up witha different fault. This last one never stops turning therefore stays engaged even with the ignition off. Is he just unlucky or is there an underlying fault ? It's on an X flow

Sounds like the solenoid has stuck/seized

Possible heat related?

Is his exhaust wrapped? If not maybe its worth a try

It's too much red wine!

 

I'd remove, strip, clean and refit wrapping starter rather than exhaust.

 

If it was a bit warmer I'd volunteer to pop down and have a look.
