If it's anything like mine, you'll have an early wiring loom. You'll need to splice some wires to get the injectors firining in pairs (1&4, 3&2 together).

Cheers Rik i'll give that a go.

Is it quite obvious to do? Not that familiar with the wiring

I couldn't get my engine started when I first fitted an Emerald. It turns-out you have to tell it how many coils you have - dunno if that's your problem.

I had the same problem when I fitted an Emerald a couple of months ago. My car is a 1997 1.6ss so it's EU2 so this should work if yours is the same.

Check under the setup menu > ECU Configuration. You should have:

Input

Main trigger: Crank Type: Inductive Pattern: 36-4 (Rover 2)

Output

Ignition Driver Output: Single

Injection Output: Grouped

One of the settings needed changing but I can't remember which one

Right.

We grouped the injectors per the Emerald wiring diagram. 1&4 to pin 24 and 2&3 to pin 23.

No joy.

So we changed the sttings from Grouped per Andy's post to sequencial and lo! she burst into life on all 4 cylinders but only the once and only at idle. As soon as we moved the throttle she died.

Anyway tomorrow is another day

Having given this some further thought. We initially setup the throttle pot and stepper motor then realised we needed to upload the 1600SS map. Could it be we needed to get the ECU to re-learn the throttle pot characteristics and reset the stepper motor IACV again. After we re-wired the injectors so that 1&4 and 2&3 were grouped, and set the ECU for sequential, the engine burst into life on fast tickover, but as soon as I moved the throttle it died. Could it be that we need to re-tell the ECU about the throttle pot? In other words the later upload of the map overode the first lot of settings?

Yes, re-calibrate the throttle pot and then save all the settings. You'll then have a map that works.

When you load a map, it immediately overwrites every single setting - including the throttle pot.

Racingshoe,

The throttle pot calibration is part of the ECU setup, not the map, a new map does not alter the pot alignment. It may alter the setting at which idle control comes in though, that is part of the map.
