Sandy Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I've spent ages cutting back plates trying to get a RamAir foam filter to fit and basically - it doesnt! They fit Crossflow and Vx applications on carbs and you can buy a standard backplate pre-cut to suit. On my Zetec installation however, it seems the installation is set too far back and slightly agled to the bonnet cut out and just doesnt seem to work? Has anyone else with a Zetec on carbs converted to a foam filter? If so, can you give me and help or details? Look out for a RamAir foam filter in For Sale!? Its not the days in your life ..........But the LIFE in your days!! ;0))
philwaters Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Mine isn't on carbs, Jenvey's, but they are DCOE style so should be similar position wise. I tried a Pipercross and it doesn't fit as the clips foul on the bonnet/nose. I ended up going for a ITG filter in the end, which was a 'special' JC71 made for me, deeper for my 90mm trumpets. Let me know if you want me to send you a couple of pictures (my web site isn't up to date yet) Phil Waters
julians Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Not on carbs, but am on jenveys and the pipercross dome filter fits on my zetec fine. Had to modify the 'blank' backplate though.
Nic Day Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Julian Do you have any photos of your back plate and fitment as I am just looking to buy a pipercross filter for my zetec. Cheers Nic Winner of the Largest pair in a non SV 7 (Rumble 2003) here
julians Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 No I dont, but I just bought the standard pipercross blank backplate (the one with no holes), and drilled my own holes so that it fitted, its was quite straightforward but a bit time consuming.
