RobW Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Bought 2 replacement wheel cylinders for the drums on the crossflow – they look identical to the cylinders coming off, but the brakeline thread seems to be different (The nut screws into the old cylinder, but not the new one.) *confused*Have sent these back to supplier, with the old cylinder for reference, but was wondering if this this a known problem ??? There are also no part numbers on the cylinders , which is a bit worrying !! Crossflow (SOON to be blatting !!) 😬
Archie Procter Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Do you mean brake cylinders? If so, I had exactly the same problem, could be a metric/imperial issue if it's a factored part? Check in the archives - I ended up forgetting the factored part and getting one from Caterham. Not much more money and it had the advantage of actually fitting on the end of the brake pipe. Also ISTR there are two cylinder sizes (strengths) and you can't tell them apart to look at - can't remember what they are but don't mix them up i.e. have the same one on each wheel or it will screw your brake balance. One is uprated slightly IIRC - again check the archives for this.
RobW Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Cheers, Am awaiting new parts . Fingers crossed !
