John_C Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Spotted these on ebay a while ago and I have been thinking of buying a pair, has anybody else used these ? ebay item :- 8043556254 Cheers John (sorry I don't know how to do the here link)
Area Representative Crudders Posted March 10, 2006 Area Representative Posted March 10, 2006 I'd be interested to know too John. I emailed the seller asking if the auction included 3.75" Ital PCD hubs and he replied that it didn't (they're Ford 4.25") but he was intending to make a batch of 3.75" PCD hubs next month. Bulk buy anyone? Although admittedly they're a pretty decent price already compared to CC. Crudders
Sandy Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I think Paul Forster who posts on here as Old4art brought and fitted some as part of his recent English axle conversion. Its not the days in your life ..........But the LIFE in your days!! ;0))
4ster Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Yep! Changed front hubs as part of the English project to get same PCD at both ends. Car only just back together so no miles on them yet but look good enough quality to me, fitted OK and the service was very good. Late posting due to extended celebration of Tigers last minute win over Leeds & great news from the Sale & Wasps matches 😬
Paul McKenzie Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 If their website's anything to go by here they look like they know their stuff. They even have 'bulk buy' prices in their list Paul Edited by - Paul McKenzie on 12 Mar 2006 17:35:58
Area Representative Crudders Posted March 20, 2006 Area Representative Posted March 20, 2006 Right then, I’ve spoken to Compbrake and they’ll set up the tooling for a run of 3.75” Triumph PCD hubs for live axle cars immediately if they have an order for 5 pairs, i.e 10 hubs. Without an order of this size I/we could be waiting for some time. The hub in question is their CMB0302 and can be seen here. For an order of 10 hubs the unit price comes down to £43.00 plus VAT and P&P each. P&P for one pair of hubs is £9.00, P&P for five pairs to one address is £12.00. So if you want a pair delivered to your door the price is £110.05 all in. If you’re happy to trust delivery via GONADS, area meet rendezvous etc. the price comes down to £103.45. The stock price for one pair delivered would usually be £124.15 BTW. So who’s interested? Crudders (edited to make the link work 😳 ) Edited by - Crudders on 28 Feb 2007 16:56:57
John_C Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 Hi Crudders, I will take a pair with ford pcd, are they the same hubs ? The web page suggests they are suitable for either ford / triumph. Cheers John
Bricol Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 If anyone with a machine shop is interested, I do have, somewhere, a CAD drawing of a hub to take Triumph disc and bearings and Ford wheels . . . seems to work fine on the front of our competition car. I did have the CNC programs too . . . once. . . that is definitely gone unfortunately . . . amazing what you can do in a quiet lunch time or several. From my experience, the price quoted is very very reasonable - good job my time was mine . . . Bri
Paul Deslandes Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Does anyone know if the Ford pcd hubs take the standard Triumph bearings (I assume they do) but, more importantly, a better seal than the horrible felt ring that disappears in no time. If nobody knows and is interested I'll give Combrake a ring to get their comments.
Area Representative Crudders Posted March 21, 2006 Area Representative Posted March 21, 2006 John_C - it is basically the same hub but with the wheel stud holes drilled in different places, so not interchangeable once machined. The Ford PCD hubs are a higher turnover item so generally freely available from stock - it was an ebay BIN auction of the Ford PCD hub that sparked off this thread in the first place. I wasn't intending to start a BB for the Ford item as it's not what I'm after, but if there's enough interest, why not? We might be able to negotiate an even better price Bricol - ta for the enouraging words on the price Paul - both types of hub take the same Triumph bearings and AFAIK all use the horrible felt seal. I've never had any problems with bearings drying out or wearing though, so it can't be all that bad So no takers for Triumph PCD hubs then? I can't be the only one interested surely? Crudders
Area Representative Crudders Posted March 21, 2006 Area Representative Posted March 21, 2006 Anyone I might try a 'Potential Bulk Buy' thread in Chitchat . . . Crudders
