Doug Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Now that I've successfully installed a Momo QR steering assembly, I need to wire up the new starter switch and button. I have removed the steering lock/switch because I kept knocking it off with my knee on cornering. The replacement will be dash mounted with a Farnell Red starter button. The wiring from the old Rover switch is as follows: White/Red - originally connected to post 50 (1) 2x Black (piggybacked together) - not sure where these were connected 2x Thick white & a thinner White (piggybacked together) - oroginally connected to post 15 (3) Thick Brown & Brown/Blue (piggybacked together) - originally connected to post 30(2) Looking at my Caterham manual, I cannot find the two Black wires and am not sure where they should go on the new arrangement. Can anyone help me with "what goes where" in the new set up? Many thanks Doug.
Doug Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 I've tried FAQ already but cannot get into the wiring diagram mentioned.
Tom_C Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Doug, try here for the wiring diagram. All the attachments to the FAQs seem to have gone wrong. Cheers Tom FH54WLX - only the car supports ManU, honest!
Doug Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 Cheers Tom, that's better! Any ideas what my 2 x (thick) Black wires piggybacked together are?
Tom_C Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 No idea, didn't have any black wires on mine when I fitted the starter button. What type of connector is on the black pair? And do you have other than the plipper immobiliser? Cheers Tom FH54WLX - only the car supports ManU, honest!
Doug Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 Black pair are together and came off one of the three main posts on the old Rover starter switch (50/15/30). I thought I'd made a note as I took them off but stupidly failed to note these two. The car does have an immobiliser - deactivated with a headphone-type jack on the dash.
