phillinda Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Front suspension now dismantled on my 1997 (de-dion) 1.8 Supersport ready for a trip to kelcoat. Many thanks for all your advice in achieving this. I've got a split gaiter on one of the track rod ends and also on one of the top wishbone rod ends. The gaiter on the track rod end is just held in place by a metal spring but I can't see how the one on the top wishbone is attached. 1. Is it possible to replace the gaiters only or will I need to replace the entire rod end? 2. If the gaiters can be replaced then where can they be obtained from? 3. If the gaiters can't be replaced then is there anywhere cheaper than CC to buy the rod ends? Thanks Phil
Mr Locust Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Redline keep them for a few pence each. Number in LF. I got a few spares to justify the postage. They come with an integral metal ring and push over the outside of the joint. No traumas and definitely cheaper than a new joint. The clearance to the upright is not great so I've found that a new one is needed whenever they get disturbed. Ian Green and Silver Roadsport 😬
phillinda Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 Thanks Ian. I'll give Redline a call. I'm also replacing the wishbone and ARB bushes so I can order these at the same time to save postage. What about the gaiters for the top wishbone end. Can they also be replaced? Phil
