Tiny Tim
What is the best workshop manual for the VX 2.0 XE? Haynes do one for Astra and one for Calibra that appear to cover the 16v engine. What do other people use? Tim
k.russell
Ive used a Haynes cavalier manual, that covers the earlier engine which is in my car, not sure if the later low noise engine is covered though, if you are not sure which engine you have there should be some past threads in the archive kevin R black-ali HPC Edited by - k.russell on 2 Jan 2006 23:04:

Tiny Tim
Looks like I have started something here! How do all the Vx cars keep going if nobody has a manual !? Steve, many thanks for your offer , I have emailed you off-line on your email address on your website. Cheers Tim
k.russell
Tim, I think Blatchat has given us most answers when we have had problems or needed to do mods, usually you only need to ask the Q 😬 kevin R black-ali HPC
stevefoster
I think VX XE's have very few problems - full stop. OK, If you mess with them, tune to massive power and have dubious aux systems / installations then they give trouble. Mine has soaked up 8 yrs of enjoyment and is still as crisp as it was when I got it. Run em regularly - avoids problems with gummed up oil pressure relief valves. Head gaskets have been known to go on engines that have been sat still for tooooo long. Just to lighten the load on Steve's internet connection My email address can be deciphered from "blatmail at beesboy dot freeserve dot co dot uk". Thanks, Mike PS Me, the K-series kid, alone in the garage in the middle of the night with a Vx engine, what were they thinking of?

stevefoster
Alex, I believe you had dubious mapping that caused a piston to melt... Others seem to have had dubious aux installations, DS for instance or tuned the engine to a very short span of reliability 😬 Hants (north) / Berkshire club here Area meeting pics here My Racing here
