sdy
I have a 2000 academy car (de dion). When going over bumps there is a very noticeable metallic rattling from the rear axle area. I have tied down all the handbrake cables so they are not to blame. After having a good look with the rear wheels off, I managed to provoke a metallic noise from the brake disc area on each side by striking upwards on the bottom of the brake discs with the palm of my hand - this requires a good thump! Has anyone else experience such a rattling problem? If the noise is coming from the hub area (provoked when striking upwards on on bottom of the brake discs), what is the cure? I notice there is a grease nipple in that locality - could it be a lack of grease? Simon
Grim Reaper
Sounds like the pads rattling to me (not that I can hear it)
sdy
I've checked the suggestion that the pads are rattling and that does seem to be the problem. Not having removed them before any tips on how to take out the rear pads on a a de dion model? Simon
shn7
Don't recall a grease nipple in this area. Are you sure your not looking at the brake bleed nipple? Steve.
