Chas Guirey
Can you tell me what oil you are using in your 1.VX's thanks Chas
DJW
Chas Wth these types of engines I dont think it realy matters. (unless your ragging it round a track) I personally have steered away from fully sin because Ithink it is a bit on the thin side. For that reason currently use 10/14 castrol mag tech. Darrell PS Hows the conversion going?
Chas Guirey
Darrell, the conversion went very well and thankfully the negine started on the button. I must say that I am very impressed with the result - its like having a bigger engine under the bonnet. I havent done anything with the carbs and will leave them until the 500 miles is up when I change the oil at the same time. How did your comparison with a standard car go? Thanks for all of your advice - it was very much appreciated. Amazing how much reassurance one needs when the pride and joy is in bits. regards Chas
DJW
Chas Sorry thats 40 not 14. Still have not tested against the standard car, but I am chuffed with the result!!! I suspect you will have little or nothing to do with your carbs when she's rolling roaded. So don't re-jett, save your money and enjoy the car. Chas Guirey
bugger - I bought all the jets at a delivered cost of approx £140 on the basis that only the main jet and air jet were the same as Henrys and Boasies so I assumed that mine must be wrong. Not to worry I can always give them to my dearly beloved as works of intricate detail. Thanks for the oil recommendation - I will definitely change to semi synthetic so that I get better oil pressure.
