MOT and brake test light

Correct.

Not correct *cool*. What actually happens is that there's a float in the reservoir with a pair of switch contacts. If the fluid level falls then at a certain point the switch is made and the light on the dash comes on to tell you that the fluid level is low. The light comes on whether you press the switch or not. The purpose of the switch is nothing more than to prove the bulb hasn't blown since the last time the level dropped 10 years before and that there is still 12V available.

So for an MOT you want the light off when the level is OK, which you have, and if they bother checking the light should come on when you press the switch to show the bulb is OK, which you have. So you're OK.

On the other hand the race master cylinder has the same thread on the cap so you could fit the float switch if you wanted to but it's something else to go wrong so best not if you can avoid it.
