jellwood
I am selling my 3.62:1 Differential from my Caterham Roadsport because I am putting in a new diff ratio. The diff is from a 2001 Caterham. The diff is in excellent condition and has given me no problems since I have had the car. The only reason I am selling it is because I now have a diff with a new ratio in my car. Caterham quote a price of £862.27 + vat (£1013.17) for this part new. Diff is for sale on Ebay here

Wahey
Is this an LSD? Is it the one that usually goes with a 5 or 6 speed? If 5 speed, does it make the ratios lower for a 6 speed car? Thanks
jellwood
The diff is not an LSD. My Caterham has a 5 speed box, but I believe this diff is for the 6 speed box (and was mistakenly put into my cars kit by Caterham when new). Hence, the reason I have changed it. Jason Plato
Note - the caterham price you quote is for a Limited slip diff . The standard diff is worth about £80 second hand .
phelpsa
A reconditioned 3.62 open diff is worth about £80, LSD £120. Adam
jellwood
If this pricing is correct, I'll remove the diff from Ebay and put it open to offers here. I thought the Caterham quoted price was for the equivelent new diff, and at half price, thought it would be a bargain for someone. Just trying to clear out the garage of spare parts. Dannyboy
Jamie I recently sold my 3.62 open diff, admittedly higher mileage for £50..however an LSD....they about £500 when they come up...about as often as Half doors 😬 😬 But, I'd leave it on e-bay! jellwood
Caterham have just confirmed that the price for a new 3.62:1 Differential (non LSD) is £862.27 + vat (£1013.17). So, my original posting is correct.
Peter T
Standard non diffs are only worth about £50 -£80, there are millions of these in the breakers yards, and this is what they charge. Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh?
Tight fart
Jamie I have brought and sold diffs on here, both around £50. And only about £10 to post with the royal mail T.F@O.F pics here www.p1spot.com
westy
At that price it should include p&p 😬 For me it's getting on the Gas, when everything you know say's get on the brake!!!
Trevor Phillips
New diffs cost upwards of £400 plus VAT from independents. Trouble is, who wants to buy new when there are so many used ones about? £50 is a bit mean for a fully built 3.62. I would expect to get £100 or £60 for the CWP by itself. Mike Molloy
Pardon me for being ignorant, but I thought you needed a specific type of diff to fit a seven - from a Sierra XR4i. Something to do with having equal length driveshafts? I was led to understand that picking up a LSD from a breaker was nigh-on impossible. Can anyone clarify what the real situation is? Paul McKenzie
Mike, Most of the above is about open diffs. Needs to be from Sierra XR4i because of unequal length d/shafts and push-in (non-lobro) joints. LSD's from Sierra cossies have lobro joints. All you need is here Paul
