Ok, I give up how are you ment to read the K-series dipstick accurately...... *confused*

Just completed an oil change but still don't know if I have do much too little etc.... The oil gets checked while hot and running but that yellow bit of plastic goes in dry comes out wet, thick at the bottom bit but thins out to the top of the yellow plastic section upto and above the max....

So what are your tricks, advice or ideas for getting an accurate reading..... *smile*

Cheers

David

I agree - it's very difficult to read when running. Best advice I have is to dip it in and out quite smartly and check fast. As a double check, if you test the level with the engine stopped, the level should be well above the indicated maximum - the level is always lower with the engine running.

I've also been advised to switch off and check immediately.

It's worse when the oil is new and clear - no contrast with the yellow dipstick.

Have a piece of paper towel/tissue to hand and as you extract the stick place it horizontally on the paper. This will give a clearly visible mark indicating the highest level of the oil. *thumbup*
