Nifty
Just after I had got my car back on the road I attended the Team Lotus celebration at Hethel. After an enthusiastic drive there we had to sit in a queue at Potash Lane and whilst doing this my temperature gauge sored up to the edge of the red. Help...panic...heater on full blast, engine fan going and the temp pulled itself back down. Since then it was running slightly hotter than normal but never replicated this problem. Having bled a little more air out of the system and lowered the oil level slightly (I forgot it already had some in the sump when I filled it) the car has been running at normal temp. However, Bentley Boy was doing a 1,000 mile nuts n bolts check on it today and whilst checking all ancillaries and electrics he put the heated screen on and hey presto....temp gauge jumps 5 degrees. Now that he has reported this to me I remember that just a swe were approaching Hethel it started to rain and I'd put the heated screen on to keep the inside dry. So, the engine was probably behaving quite normally and in fact the gauge was lying...and the fan was kicking in at the right temp. Keep off the straight and narrow 😬
Joe 90
So you think the screen affects the gauge. The phrase "Earthing Problem" leaps to mind. SEP field working, not spotted in 102,000 miles. Some photos on webshots, updated 10 June
