colincagain
advice please....my father has just started racing career .....instead of settling for a motorised zimmer frame....he has a Raw Striker with Toyota 20 valve 1600... with 14 in wheels shod with AO32s for the dry (Pembrey based Welsh champ), but is looking for a recommendation for wheels and a wet tyre ....thinking of 14 or 15inch...any advice welcome on both best value wheels and tyres you would recommend for the wet. thanks Colin
Irrelevant
CR28Rs are supposedly very good in the wet . . . no experience personally, just percieved Blatchat wisdom. After a hi-vis (pocketted side) driver's door if anyone's got one?
colincagain
thanks Adam..are they Avons?
Peter Carmichael
Avon CR28 "SPORT". The "sport" is an important bit of the designation. Normal CR28s are made of concrete. The CR28 sport is about as good as it gets on List 1B. Myles
I thought current perceived wisdom was that Bridgestone RE720s were top of the hill for 1B... ...or does this only apply: i) In the dry and/or, ii) When shaved/worn down to the softer final 4mm of tread??? Irrelevant
OK, I was wrong on the sport bit - not trying to be clever, just passing on something I'd read a while back. Now it's my turn to correct someone...... 😬 Myles: I think you'll find Bridgestone RE720s are list 1A - IMO they're pretty mediocre, arguably the best of a bad (1A) bunch. phelpsa
A0-21Rs for the wet, slicks for the dry. I would say their is no point in 32s when used slicks are cheaper and last just as long. Go for slicks from a renault clio cup car (15") on 15" minilites and put the 21s on the 14s. I have tried long and hard to find 14" slicks without success. Myles
Adam - yep, sorry - I *always* seem to get 1A and 1B the wrong way around... 😳 ...but I have been given the understanding that they are near (or at) the top of that list... phelpsa
Have now found a racing team that uses 14" slicks, Mardi Gras racing. They use them on honda civics. They do them in 6.5/21 14 and 7.5/21.5 14. I am looking at getting some semi-used 7.5s to go on my 14x6 kn jupiters. Adam
