Shift Light

Nifty

Recommended Posts

Unfortuantely I've managed to break the LED off the wires for my shift light whilst reassembling.

Is there any reason why I can't use a standard bulb, as used for the indicator, main beam, etc ?

Keep off the straight and narrow *tongue* 😬

led's draw very low current so useing a bub could possibly damage your shift light controller. Try removing any heatshrink tubing from te led.you may be able to solder it back togeter .Remember to insulate the joint afterwards(tape). Hope that helps Bryan

Just get a new LED and solder it back in.

LEDs are polarity sensitive (ie: they need to be connected the right way round) so try it one way then the other. One way it will work and the other it won't (you won't do any harm if you get it the wrong way round - it just won't work).

LED's have a resistor in series with them to limit the current, so a lamp won't work because the series resistance would be too great. Any standard LED will be Ok. You can get them from tons of places including Maplins here
