6pt harness with std leather seats

I fitted my crutch straps to the lap strap bolts - a longer bolt for this purpose came with the crutch strap. This works for me and it avoids having to drill through the floor pan 😬

I did same and used the one set of bolts that the lap belts are attached to. There is some debate as to whether one must use another set of fixing points - I could find no others and did not want to drill holes everywhere. I thought that it was additional safety to stop me "submarining" and not a huge load bearer so was OK compromise to use same fixings. If they break I imagine I will have "broken" too so not worth worrying about *eek*

I used the Caterham supplied crutch straps with my leather seats in a 99 roadsport. They mount onto the brackets at floor level behind the seats then the straps feed up over the seat base & you sit on top of them. The problem I found with mine was that once fitted you loose about two inches of rearward adjustment on the seats, which for me at over six feet tall was nae use. See my reply to this herethread on guidance whilst drilling the holes. The alternative which in rerospect I think is a better idea, is to use smaller bolts & make sleeves to take up the slack in the mounting hardware.

I've since removed the crutch straps & will be selling them on e bay.

Got mine from CC too - and I have leather seats. I was more interested in stopping the lap strap from riding-up when I tightened the shoulder harness, but I really can't see that fitting them to the lap strap anchor bolts is any less secure than those brackets at the back - and it's a lot less hassle to fit - IMHO.

Fitted them to my post 96 seats. I used a bass port from Maplin, cut into the seat base so that the strap came up at the right point, looping over the seat frame. It cost about £1.50 or something and looks quite neat. Picture on my site under 'upgrades'
