andy_h
I've just removed a carbon race seat (drivers) and a Caterham 7 logo'd GRP seat (passenger), which I didn't like, (read as, she coudn't fit in, and she's a size 12 😳) and I'm looking for advice on what I should replace them with. She's wants Caterham cloth seats, but I'd like Caterham tilets, possibly compremise on Caterham leather. What's the consensus on life with tilets. Does your bum ache after a few miles/hours in the car? What about tilet for driver and leather for passenger? Any comments? Cheers, Andy

Sheds Moderator
I have Tillett driver seat and S type cloth passenger, soon to try a pair of pre S cloths. The race seats (with the fin) are horrid. IME the Tillett is very comfy (I'm 5'6 and 10.5 stones, 38 chest, 30 waist so not much bigger than your size 12 wife) and I've done 450 miles in a day in the thing without too much trouble. Disadvantage - very hot in summer, rather cold in winter. Holds water so you get a wet bum if there's a shower. You forget all this when you go quickly into a corner and the seat just grips you so that you only have to worry about steering the thing, not hanging on too. Steve Robinson
Tillets are remarkably comfortable, a 2 hour journey can be done no problem. My Dad suffers with a bad back and found his better than his jag x type seat! If you want a buyer for the passenger seat you have just removed then let me know as I could be interested. andy_h
Thanks guys. Maddox, Seriers 3 or 5, I've no idea It's a 1994 ex-VX challenge race car, with 2.0 VX engine. Sounds like Tillett's are the way to go (I'd like to keep the weight down). Would anyone with Caterham Tillett's (composite not carbo,. I wish I could afford carbon ☹️) be so kind to meet me so I could sit in and try-before-I-buy? I'm located North Winchester but we could meet half way (I'll be in a tin-top as mine has no seats 😬 Anyone cheaper than Caterham for Tillett's? Steve, When I come to sell my existing seats (not until I've got replacements) I'll post on here first. Cheers, Andy
Steve Robinson
I think Tillett have been approached on a number of occasions to do bulk buy discounts but they never seem to bite. AFAIK if you want the genuine article you have to go to Caterham for them. Steve
andy_h
Anyone willing to let me sit in their baby? Cheers, Andy
ian balson
Andy, Where in Hampshire are you? I live in Poole, you're welcome to try mine. Or, the local West Hants meeting is on the first Tuesday of the month and meets at the Bell Pub, Brook, Nr Cadnam, if that helps. There are a few that attend with Tillets. Personally I find them very comfortable, more so than the leather seats. Have done 250+ miles in a day with no problems. However, as said previously, they are cold in winter and hot in summer.
