Jason Plato
Why not simply use the terminals for the standard horns located on the chassis x member ?
Chris W
Red Dave Fitting the new horns is very straightforward, (assuming your old horns were working OK?) 1. Firstly... DON'T use the relay that comes in the box with the Halfords horns. It is not required. 2. Leave the installed (Caterham) relay in place and don't remove any wires from it. 3. Simply pull the spade connectors off the original horns ie: (i) one purple/yellow bringing power (ii) one short purple/yellow running from one horn to the other. 4. Physically unbolt the old horns and bolt the new horns in their place (should be a straight swap over) 5. Connect the power purple/yellow to one terminal on one of the horns. It may be marked "+". If there are no markings it doesn't matter which one. 6. Run the short purple/yellow wire you previously removed, FROM the purple/yellow connector on horn 1 TO the equivalent connector on horn 2. ie: these two terminals are connected together. 7. Now this is the only additional wiring because the Halfords horns are plastic cased and therefore need an earth wire whereas the original horns are metal cased and earth through the bracket. Join the second connector on horn 1 and horn 2 together with a short wire (spade ends) and then connect this wire to an earth point (any convenient bolt). To stick with convention, use black wire for these earth wires if you have it. eh voila... it should work just fine. Email me if you have any problems but it should be very straightforward. Myles
Firstly... DON'T use the relay that comes in the box with the Halfords horns. It is not required. Quite right. Totally O/T, but save it up for when you (or a fellow 7er) need to build the k-series relay mod... here Or even the fan override switch mod... Keep BC free and open for ALL.
