vinnie m
do any of you guys know what is causing this? done about 2000 miles since supersport-R converstion and on 4 different occasions now I have had a bad stutter from the car, Feels like fuel stavation. Anyway each time this has happened it is after a long run then a short break (anything from 2 mins to 20 mins) then fire her up, pull away and a kangeroo up the road. seems to clear after about quater of a mile but is a bit worrying any ideas PLEASE!!! Joe 90
This would most likely be heat soak, but as I'm not really a K series expert, I can't advise on what it's affecting. SEP field working, not spotted in 101,000 miles. Some photos on webshots, updated 10 June
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 17, 2004 Leadership Team Share Posted June 17, 2004 A possible cause could be the temperature sensor for the ecu overheating (recording too high a temperature) being in the water rail too close to the exhaust. This would give an incorrect reading when the car is stopped for a few minutes or staitionary - there are similar issues with the sender for the temperature gauge. Caterham can supply a kit of parts to move the senders further back around the by-pass or heater hose, thereby creating a remote installation away from the exhaust. May be worth trying. Stu. Myles
And that kit of parts can be seen here I don't think it made a huge difference to my car when first fitted (std. 1.6k with std. manifold) - I fitted it for a different reason (damaged sender in the water rail) - but I'm glad it's there now that I've upgraded to a decent 4-1 manifold system which seems to cook everything quite nicely.
