strikermk2
hi all. Hoping your can shed some light on my problem.I have a x-flow with twin 40 dcos's. When the engine is running there seems to be a fuel leak into the air filters.its not gushing in ,more like a weep. I own up to initially running with too much fuel pressue (3.5psi) but have now reduced it to 1.5psi.This has improved the running but not cured the leak Have i damaged my carbs? I did notice that when the engine stops running some of the jets drip for a while then top. Does that help?. Hope you can help Thanks Bryan ps; can you make it a idiots guide as i really dont understand the inner workings of carbs
Foxy Smith
If it continues to drip after switch off it would imply that the fuel level is too high in the fuel bowls in which case you will need to reset the float heights. Good weber manual will be best way to find out how to do this, easy to do but difficult to describe without piccies.

strikermk2
Hi all .I managed to download a weber manual tonight so i will try adjusting the floats at the weekend.Could over pressuring the fuel have caused the floats any damage? Am i right in thinking1.5 to 2 psi i the right fuel pressure. Thanks Bryan
StewartG
I don't think 3.5psi is a problem.
Normans_Ghost
Run my 45's at 3psi with no problem, 3.5 is a bit high for a standard xflow though. norman verona 1989 BDR 220bhp Mem No 2166 Curmudgeon in an Elise, (and 7 and Elan)
strikermk2
hi all .still got the same problem!!! I adjusted the float level on both carbs and have cured one. The other, i have adjusted more than i felt i should , but it still leaks from the pump jet.It also drips while the engine is idleing. Can anyone shed any light?/ Thanks Bryan
Bill Shurvinton
Leaking from the pump jets is often caused by the washers that seal them against the barrel of the carb. If you pull the pump jets out you will see a little silvery washer stuck on them. Replacing this often cures the dribbles. Problem is you need a complete rebuild kit to get the washers.
