Mark_H
R500 chassis currently being built, 2.3 litre Duratech engine on order. All I need to do now is decide on the colour - current options (not in any particular order) : 1. The colour of Mic's and Jackal's cars - http://www.jackals-forge.com/lotus/duranail.html 2. Aztec Orange 3. Caterham Yellow Any thoughts? Edited by - Mark_H on 16 Jun 2004 19:00:
Steve Robinson
100 people 100 opinions no doubt. Yellow and orange way too common for my liking. Jackals looks really good but think I would have gone green nosecone with carbon band at front instead of all black, but each to their own. Sheds Moderator
Audi/Ferrari titanium silver. It's a light silver rather like (but nicer than) Ford Silver Fox from the 70s. Very cool.
john aston
FWIW I think THE colour scheme on a7 should replicate 1967 BRM F1 car- v.v.dark bottle green with fluoro orange noseband. Never seen a 7 like this. Would look better than my Porshe cherry pearl metallic 7. Which is dark red.
Petrolhead
Didn't Rover do one. Looked wrong though with the grill in Orange but I am sure the 7 would look 10 time better Now with SL No
PaulD
Lotus did a limited edition Elise 'Type 25', a year or so back, in a metalic BRG with twin yellow stripes here - might look good on a Seven if you made the stripes a little narrower. A few other interesting colours on that page, what about the Camel yellow? Paul Edited by - PaulD on 18 Jun 2004 13:29:
Subaru Blue SV
Mines dark blue with black pack. I find that quite a lot of the time i drive with lights on as its pretty obvious otherwise tin tops have,nt seen me & it shows a lot of dirt & stonechips. Light colour maybe silver next time
Petrolhead
WEell I bought a yellow car to replace my BRG one. I have had more people either sticking the fingers up at me or trying to drive into me Now with SL No
Irrelevant
Caterhams should have no paint - it adds weight. Someone told me it was 5kg - which seems hard to believe, but if it adds an unnecessary gramme it's got no place on any Caterham of mine . . . Bare ally - it's the only way to go 😬 After a hi-vis (pocketted side) driver's door if anyone's got one?
Mark_H
BRG although a truly classic colour does nothing for me. Personally I prefer the brighter colours on a 7 - preference still Mic's colour - HIG "WEell I bought a yellow car to replace my BRG one. I have had more people either sticking the fingers up at me or trying to drive into me" - having never owned a Caterham, why would anyone do that??? Bafty Crastard
BRG/yellow, Yellow, and the like are quite frankly crap and out dated…...Sorry 😬 With all the colours now available why?.....be a bit more adventures Original R300 NUT (Azure Blue)
andycox
Red! everyone knows sports cars are red. If not red make it bold, it suits the seven shape with some carbon of course. 😬 Driving on the left side 😬
Petrolhead
having never owned a Caterham, why would anyone do that??? I have no idea. Just seem to attract asoles who try to cut me up and when challened about their sh1t driving they then hurl abust as though as was in the wrong Now with SL No

Sheds Moderator
AdamHay, re 5kg of paint on a 7, I have recently learned that during the development of the 2CV Pierre Boulanger had a similar obsession with weight. The paint added 2kg, I suspect a 7 would be similar. How much does a tube of Autosol weigh?
