Tight fart
My engine I'm told should rev to 8500 and peak around 8k but it does not want to go past 7k. Could it be the air filter? I have fitted a ITG (jc40/65) and the inside face is only about 10 to 12 mm from the bellmouths. I have thought of removing it and running it up the road and seeing what differance it makes without, but the thought of something getting in is stopping me. Randy
Check the throttle linkage first to see if the butterflies are opening all the way.

Nigel Riches
More revs needs more fuel, not leaning out at max chat is it?, need bigger injectors?, greater delivery capacity pump, do you know how accurate the tacho is? under reading?, just a couple of thoughts. 1982. 5 speed, clamshells. Peter Carmichael
The ITG filter being close to the trumpets does not affect the airflow. A foam filter can be very useful for getting the airflow to turn a corner into the trumpets. This is not the problem.
elie boone
If you suspect the airfilter have a blat without it and see if there is a difference
