riggsbie
Hi Guys (& Gals)..... Just got back from Le Mans and my K-series engined car, and my car did something a bit weird........ Ran out of fuel but managed to limp into a fuel station where the engine died after having driven from Rouen at 100 - 120 mph for 1 hr 45 mins continously. 😬 When I arrived at the petrol station I noticed that the rev counter did a weird fsd (full scale deflection) of the needle as the engine stalled and died..... After refuelling the car started OK after a couple of cranks but would not idle at all and when it died it did the fsd on the rev counter again ??? I assume this is some ECU fault code type of thing ? Anyway, made it just to the SeaCat in time to load up and again the engine was stalling at idle all the time, when we unloaded in the UK the engine started and idled fine but I still get the rev counter needle fsd when I key off (ignition off).... Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this and what it means ?? I was running at +5000 rpm in fifth for 1 hr 45 mins and stinkingly hot conditions, sun burnt arms and face to prove it BTW it's an EU2 1600 K-series running Caterham Supersport cams and revised Mems ECU module...... Any help would be appreciated ❗ Riggsbie
Myles
Check all of the various plugs in the engine bay first (unplug them and then replug them). I got a similar tacho fsd last week when I accidentally got a bit enthusiastic with the jetwash in the engine bay - pulled all the plugs, put them back together, and it all worked again... Chris W
...............particularly the plug that connects to the Idle air Control Valve (IACV) situated on the side of the plenum about 5 or 6 inches back from the mouth of the air filter. Even if it's still in position, I suggest unplugging it and replugging it again. Do the same with the throttle position sensor (on the plenum again, very close to the mouth of the air filter) Chris 2003 1.8K SV 140hp see it here
