robmar
all the talk on the sprints regs thread with regard splitting classes etc got me thinking.... it is undesireable for us to have more classes but with fewer cars per class, if you look at other sprint (any make) sereies there are classes with regularly have So I started to wonder how many cars we had competing at each event last year and where any classes larger than others in term sof numbere of competitors 🤔 so... average entrant per event class1 6.3 class2 12.6 class3 11 class4 9.6 class5 10.4 class6 4 this would suggest to me that in terms of numbers we are reasonably well split and catered for in classes 2-5, class 6 is always going to be the catch all for not fitting in with any class and I would suspect would always be small, class1 I suspect is at the vagaries of the acadamey and graduates events clashing on a number of cases. If we where to split into further groups we runt he risk of making the numbers per class too small IMO this is all just for discussion also looking at the results there is close times all through all the classes all the way up (not just with the front runners) so again this is indcative to me that the regs are not far off if not spot on as they are... rob Edited by - robmar on 30 Jan 2004 13:40:
RichardO
Rob; Interesting numbers. Current academy cars are class 2 not class 1; only pre 2001(?) ones are C1. So academy dates shouldn't matter. But most of class 1 is made up of graduates... With the admission of the 1800s this year it looks like class 2 and 3 are the ones to avoid! Unfortunately I can't do that without a major engine change.....oh well, at least I have the excuse that I have a lot of opposition. R
robmar
aha - ok I must have got a bit I do not think the 1800's will have that much advantage over the 1600's if anything, all I think it means is more competitors int he class which is a good thing rob
MikeW
It's a real pity that the dates for the sprints seem to clash with the graduates races and there are quite a few of us with the 'old' academy cars that would like to do more of the class 1 events. This year both Curborough's clash with race meetings ☹️ I would have thought that 10 per class would be ideal MikeW 1600 VX Black/Ali Race No

RichardO
Dave, April 25 is OK at the moment, but the grads calendar is still provisional...
