R400C
Latter derivatives of the Stack 8130 as fitted to R300/400 comes with the ability to show Fuel Pressure as oppose to Ambient Air Temp but without the pressure transducer the display simply reads 999. Has anyone bought and fitted a Stack Fuel Pressure Sender and if so, is there much complication involved in fitting it? I don't really feel the need to know my fuel pressure but I'd rather have a meaningful display than just 999 ...... in fact I'd rather have the outside air temperature as per the original Stack 8130A but that's progress for you! Chelspeed
Depends on what fuel rail and what fuel pressure regulator you have. Some aftermarket Jenvey fuel rails have a schrader valve between injector 2 and 3, you could replace this with a sender. Some aftermarket pressure regulators have a second pressure tapping for engines with two fuel rails, you can fit the sender into the second tapping. For a standard R300/400 I guess these don't exist. I like having fuel pressure logged and alarmed (but not displayed) as it tells me that the pump and regulator are keeping up with the demands of the engine at full throttle, full revs (not the time I want to be studying the dash....), or that I'm not getting any limited fuel starvation during long sweeping corners (ditto). Hopefully this shouldn't be a problem with an off the shelf R300/400 but fuel pumps do fail, filters do block, so perhaps better safe than sorry. The very latest stacks are user configurable (just likee motec have been for years...), if you don't want fuel pressure on display then move it to level 4 or whatever and put air temp there. Guess the Caterham model is a bit lower spec than that. Still might be worth asking stack if they can help you with a one off reconfigure, occasionally they will shock you with a cheap priced mod, but not often. EFA
I run FP on my car - mainly for ensuring the regulator does not "goo off" as it has done in the past. Personally its not very useful except to ensure you are getting the correct fueling before a track day or other situation where you will be using full throttle a lot. Fat Arn Slay the K. Me too - I use a SPA guage. The sender is fitted to the pressure regulator. Fitted it when I had problems with lumpy low rev running which was caused by low fuel pressure. It has never wavered since I replaced my knackered fuel pump and fitted the guage though.
R400C
The Caterham Stack display does not present a problem in that you don't need to have the Fuel Pressure displayed as '999' as it is on a lower level page. However, I'll give Caterham/Stack a call to find out the solution in terms of fitting a fuel pressure sender. Thanks for the replies.
