strongy
The K & N filters on my xflow are seceured by 4 cap nuts (2 per carb). These nuts tighten onto 4 long pins (for want of a better word) that pass through the centre of the air filter and sandwich the air filter between the metal K & N covers. Problem- one of these pins has lost its thread and Caterham say that they don't supply these filters very much now and don't keep any misc spares. Any idea where I could get a couple of replacements. Cheers Strongy - I think its getting louder again 😬

Ferrino
Strongy - I have exactly the same problem as you. I e-mailed K&N UK to see if you can buy replacements, but apparently you can either buy an entirely new filter (casing + element) or a replacement element - no other bits. Please let me know if you manage to source these bits or get it fixed.
Graham Sewell
To make life even worse, one of the screws is held in by another screw that is loctite'd into place and works very slightly loose after a few times balancing the carbs..... I may have an old pair of filters (with frames) in my garage..... Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
strongy
Graham, If I don't have any luck with Eurocarbs and you are willing to "part with some parts", please could you bear me in mind. I am more than happy to pay for them + p&p or a donation to NtL. Cheers Strongy - I think its getting louder again 😬
Ferrino
Graham - if you are willing to part with them and Strongy doesn't take 'em both then I would take one off your hands (if it's the type with 2 diagonally-positioned bolts?).
Graham Sewell
Looks like I need to work out how much they will cost to post..... I'll check what condition they are in. Do either of both of you need the filters, as I know one filter is damaged (pushed in by bonnet cut-out being slightly too small). Just remembered - you may not want the top faces unless you take the pair as they are a pair of Arnie's old carbon fibre ones - now what should that do to the price????? strongy
Hi Graham I'm fine for filters mine are quite new, its just the bolts with the cap nuts that I need. Thanks very much for your help and please let me know the costs involved. cheers Strongy - I think its getting louder again 😬
Ferrino
Graham - it's the same for me too! My elements and plates/frames are fine - I just need 1or 2 of the long bolts/pins which go the depth of the filters. I appreciate that taking these bits only is a little inconvenient for you! Out of interest, what do the CF filters look like? Do you have any pics?
Graham Sewell
No pics unfortunately. Being a luddite, I still use gelatine based photography! Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
puremalt
Strongy, Millwood chaged the leading filter/ surround whilst on its marathon rebuild. They may have the bits they removed left, in which case the pins which were ok are there too. Excellent!
strongy
Cheers Puremalt, happy new year to you. I'll stick with Graham for now but a good back up plan Out of interest are you going on the Llandow shakedown? Nigel Riches
Is it not posible to remove the remains of the old bolt, pin, or whatever, and fit a bolt with a suitable spacer, to keep the sides apart, just a thought. 1982. 5 speed, clamshells. puremalt
Yup, sure am. The new block needs a work out. I have 145 bhp, and you.....? Only joking, be great to see you there. 😬 Excellent!
strongy
Sadly not ☹️ I insured with Adrian Flux who do not offer track day cover. Egger Lawson wanted £120 + £1500 excess which I thought was a lot for 1 day. I won't risk not having insurance because with my luck I'd stuff it on the first corner. I will come down and watch though. Strongy - I think its getting louder again 😬
Hilbron Runde
This small problem can be cured by cutting 5mm threaded rod to length ( stainless is best ) and fit as normal.
